Ayana Morris is a young lady you should know!

The Newark, New Jersey native recently created and curated an exhibit celebrating the beauty and diversity of black hair called “Don’t Touch my Hair.”

To celebrate the launch, she welcomed beauty and fashion icons Mikki Taylor and Misa Hylton, along with yours truly to discuss the importance of representation and freedom of expression when it comes to African American tresses.

For the occasion, Ayana wore a Laquan Smith skirt and Dolce & Gabbana boots.

Essence Magazine Editor at Large Mikki Taylor was a vision in a dress by Newark Native, Marco Hall.

Misa Hylton rocked a look from her collection with Macy’s along with Bottega Veneta orange heels.

And I was feeling Jovani in a strapless velvet number from the brand, along with SybgCo HBIC Black pumps and hair from Ayaba Hair.

Happy Friday!

So I was recently in Paris for the Olympics! While abroad, I decided to visit Official Honey Hand, an extremely skilled hairstylist out of London who specializes in making natural looking short wigs. My hair is in this weird ‘in between’ growing out stage (those who get perfect platinum pixies know what I mean). Basically about 2 months after you get your hair dyed, your hair starts to grow out significantly. You could dye it again, but in most cases it will be too short, so you typically have to wait another month before you can get it done again. It’s just a growing out phase that is not the cutest…so I decided to take the Eurostar and take my chances.

2.5 hours on the train, a couple Ubers, and 4 hours in Honey Hand’s chair, and voila…

It’s gonna take some getting used to, but I guess it was time for a change. Honey Hand (her name is Hannah) and I decided to collaborate on a post, and it has received almost 3.6 Million plays and 40,000 likes!

It looks like I’ll be going back to wigs this Fall! My real hair has taken a beating from all the platinum. I think in this next season, I’m going to focus on nursing my hair back to health and using protective styles like wigs and braids yet again. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are letting us know that they are OUTSIDE all summer long, with the most fashionable looks in rotation.

The ‘Fashion Killa‘ duo who bet on black for the evening, were photographed leaving the Mercer Hotel in New York City on Saturday night.

RiRi wore a black long sleeve top with $1,050 black Vetements distressed jeans and $1,190 embellished Gucci pumps. Her vintage Prada eyewear offered a sporty element to her all black outfit that gave us early 2000 vibes.

Contrary to his superstar bae urban flare, A$AP Rocky suited up with a black double-breasted oversized suit, and statement red tie.

His designer tortoise frames looked timeless, and worked exceptionally well with the color palette of his ensemble.

When it came down to their iconic hair styles, it was great to see Rihanna mirror A$AP Rocky with her neatly done cornrow braids.

While Rocky is known for his signature cornrow braids with intricate designs , this hairstyle was a change for Rihanna who recently debuted her natural curly hair for her ‘Fenty Hair’ campaign.

From their hair, down to their stylish outfits, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky brought the heat for date night in New York.

The Mielle Organics ‘Beauty Con’ booth at the 30th Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans allowed hair mavens to step inside the ‘Mielleverse’ where there was a magnitude of inspiration and innovation.

Founder Monique Rodriguez isn’t new to Essence Fest, and she returned this year with a bigger and better pop-up shop.

From tailored beauty insights, to celebrities on the scene advocating for their favorite Mielle Organics products, there were numerous experiential activations.

Over the weekend, the RN turned CEO put her best fashion foot forward. From a black and white Dolce & Gabbana polka dot mini dress, to a fuchsia pink Bronx & Banco lace runway look, she shut it down per usual.

Rapper and songwriter, Lady London was also in attendance and our Fashion Bomb correspondent Sheek was able to interview her about her outfit.

The New York native shared, “I have on a Dsquared choker, love Dsquared one of my favorites, my top is Kwame Adusei who is an African designer out of LA, and of course [my shoes] are Rene Caovilla.“

Contrary to Lady London’s black and white ensemble, singer Letoya Luckett dazzled in multicolor Cynthia Rowley dress with clear yellow pumps.

Similar to Luckett’s aesthetic, our Fashion Bomb CEO was also at the Mielle pop-up shop and opted for a nude sequins Staud dress, with her signature finger waves as she jammed out with Luckett, Lance Gross and many more.

Megan Thee Stallion attended GQ’s ‘Man Of The Year’ award styled in a curly up-do and soft glam.

This is the year of comeback for rap artist Megan Thee Stallion, so her attendance to the GQ red carpet was spot on. In fact, her look was one of the highlights of the night leaving a mark on not only her great style choice with her gown, but with her amazing makeup artistry skills, and let’s not forget the body! After her viral TikTok workout routine, the Houston hottie body is body goals this year.

Showing off her amazing figure, the Houston TX, artist posed on the red carpet in a Salih Balta gown perfectly paired with a pinned up curly up-do styled by celebrity hairstylist Kellon Deryck making the gown the star of the show. Her brown skin glowed effortlessly as her front bangs neatly parted to the side, allowing her curls to fall on the side of her face, and allowing her soft glam to show.

Adding to the brown theme aesthetic of her gown, the self taught makeup artist and rapper paired a soft glam smokey eye to her look. Using one of her favorite go-to cosmetic brand’s Revlon Beauty, she used their ‘Colorstay Lip Liner’ in the color chocolate with the ‘Colorstay Matte Lite Crayon’ in the color “On Cloud Wine,” topped off with ‘Superlustrous The Gloss’ in the shade Crystal Clear to created the perfect lip shade for her look.

Rihanna has entered the “blondes have more fun” chat and we’re all here for it.

New hair, new mom, who is this? Know as the trendsetter she is, Rihanna is fearless and the queen of switching things up. Whether she is wearing a mullet, a short pixie cut, a blunt bob, or faux locs, we can always count on the Fenty Beauty founder to serve a look.

Just recently, the singer headed to Las Vegas with A$AP Rocky to sit front row for the F1 Grand Prix, and although her outfit was on trend with her racer aesthetic, the talk of the night was her honey-blonde hair.

Styled by celebrity hairstylist, Yusef, Rihanna served us some ombre action. Rih was spotted with a part to the side, and darker brown roots that transitioned into a lighter honey blonde shade chest length Fashion Bomb Hair moment.

Channeling her inner biker girl energy, the Fenty Beauty CEO gave us helmet hair by styling her front strands swept to the side with a head full of soft waves.

Of course the hair has to match the outfit. Rihanna paired her new look with an on-trend outfit perfectly suited for the occasion. She wore a plain black zip-up hoodie—unzipped to show a peek at her bra underneath and a leather Balenciaga motorcycle jacket.

“No one has a comb yet like we do to brush out braids,” expressed Imara. “The maximum amount of braids that a customer can take out using our comb is 8 braids, however the smaller the braids, the more you can get in there which is a great time reduction.”

In addition to the Original UnBraider, Imara is focused on the expansion of her business and reach, and also offers a Comb out Spray Conditioner and No Itch Shampoo which she hopes will one day be easily accessible at local retailers.
